Workforce
We aim to ensure that Milton Keynes attracts, retains and develops the very best teachers, leaders and other education professionals to provide the best possible quality of education is available for all children and young people in Milton Keynes.


Ensuring that high quality professional development is available will help these teachers, leaders and other education professionals achieve their career ambitions whilst maintaining their health and well-being.
Our ambition is also to develop an education workforce that reflects the diverse communities it serves in Milton Keynes.
These ambitions reflect the objectives of the Learning 2050 Project which outlined a clear vision for learning and the education system in Milton Keynes including the development of the education workforce.
Our work has included a survey of the education workforce during 2021-22 and promoting working in education in Milton Keynes at a variety of recruitment events.
Training to become a teacher
If you are looking to realise your dream to become a teacher, Milton Keynes has its own accredited teacher training providers offering school-centred initial teacher training (SCITT) programmes for both primary and secondary teaching.
This training will provide you with a great start to your teaching career equipping you with the knowledge and skills required to develop into great teachers who make a real difference to the lives of the children and young people in our schools.

Two Mile Ash Initial Teacher Training
Primary and secondary schools in Milton Keynes also work with a number of other providers of initial teacher training including Bourton Meadow Teacher Training, the University of Bedfordshire, University of Northampton, Oxford Brookes University, University of Oxford, the Open University and the UCL Institute of Education (University College London).
